Hostname Naming Rules

Rule Description

To ensure globally unique and easily manageable hostnames for each device, the following unified format is recommended.

Naming Format

Product Abbreviation - Custom Account Name - Number

Specific Rules

Product abbreviation: Use the product identifier as shown (e.g., take HKP-vm.pico from HKP-vm.pico (US)).

Custom account name: Recommend using the email prefix (e.g., for emma@gmail.com, use Emma – capitalize the first letter for readability).

Number: Start from 001 and increase sequentially (first device = 001, tenth device = 010). Ensure no duplicates.

Example

Purchased product: HKP-vm.pico (US) from United States VPS/VDS

Email: Emma@gmail.com → custom account name: Emma

First device purchased for this product → number: 001

Final Hostname: HKP-vm.pico-Emma-001

This naming convention clearly distinguishes between different products, users, and device sequences, effectively avoiding name conflicts and facilitating ongoing operational maintenance.
